Advert (For Tomorrow)

A reminder that Britpopumentary Live Forever is on BBC2 this Monday night. This is what I thought in March.

Since then I've read The Last Party, a doorstop-sized account of Britpop. Books about pop music are either minutely detailed compilations of clippings or expansive theorising bollocks; this is closer to the former, but manages to be readable and laugh-out-loud funny.

The film shows Damon Albarn as an embittered drug casualty and Noel Gallagher as a wit. In the book, Allbran is clearly intelligent, if still a git, and Oasis take the blame for killing British rock with their low ambition - contrasted with the tragedy of Elastica's lost promise.
