A journey round the corner to the shops begins with a single step
On Saturday, I played 'Au Clair de la Lune' on Janet's piano with more than one finger.

On Sunday, I identified a horse chestnut and a cherry tree using an Usborne guide.

Today I am 31 years old, and not, as you might infer, eight. It's a start.

Happy birthday! (And to J, who is also not eight, of course.)

On Saturday [info]smallclanger had his first 'big' bike ride (with stabilisers). I suspect piano playing and tree identification is not far in his future either. Eep!

Thank you. That reminds me that I was 20 before [info]huskyteer taught me to ride a bike. May [info]smallclanger do better...

Many happy returns of the day!

Meg thinks I am 32 going on 6, so this does make you my big brother. :-)

I'm fascinated to know how the horse chestnut and cherry tree were using the Usborne guide. And I've never seen a piano with more than one finger.

Regardless of these minor details, happy birthday!

Not only that, the piano has two legs and four feet.

Identifying trees/plants/flowers is on my 101 Things list -- I need an Usbourne guide as well. Frankly, I know nothing. Trees are trees! There are conifers which I can recognise, "pines" which I can recognise, and everything else is frankly "other".

Also happy birthday! Perhaps I will see you and Janet at some point, if not soon, then, not too far away :)

they had a whole set of Observer books (the small ones, the intellectual big borther of I spy books) at Little Venice at the weekend. At a fiver each, so I didn't buy any.

I'm not going to say happy birthday to Owen, as I already have.
